Update on AllianceRx Specialty Pharmacy Claims

We recently learned that some claims for specialty drug prescriptions filled through AllianceRx Walgreens Prime were not processed as intended. Members who filled prescriptions through AllianceRx between March and May 2019 may be responsible for added costs.
Members with financial impact will receive a letter from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) informing them of the situation. They will then receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from BCBSIL and a billing statement from AllianceRx for any out-of-pocket expenses they may owe.
If members have questions, they may call AllianceRx at 877-627-6337. AllianceRx hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time.

BCBSIL contracts with Prime Therapeutics to provide pharmacy benefit management and related other services. BCBSIL, as well as several independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans, has an ownership interest in Prime Therapeutics.
Prime Therapeutics has an ownership interest in AllianceRx Walgreens Prime, a central specialty and home delivery pharmacy.
